A: Smackdown
Fred: The Empress has declared that the duel shall not be to the death, so you are safe for now. She also tacitly recognized you as the Heir of Rackenroon.
Kathy: Then what's the point of going through with the duel?
Fred: I think she's hoping you'll smack Jinjur down a few pegs.
B: Death Before Dishonour
Fred: You know, there's a point. Perhaps I've been looking at this all wrong. I've been thinking of this from the perspective of a gentleman. I forgot that we're dealing with the Hyena Brigade. "Being taken prisoner is the greatest possible dishonour..."
Fred: Your sister's right. You have to cheat. Cheat outrageously. Take any opportunity you can and turn it to your advantage. And when the time comes— you must run her through.
Kathy: What?! But I thought the Empress said—
Fred: You must. You cannot let her live. A defeated and humiliated Jinjur would only become infinitely more poisonous— and dangerous.
