Fred: Look. The Brigade may be brigands and thugs, but they're also big on style. You need to establish yourself as a credible war queen among warriors. That's why the Duchess is not going to call off the duel, even though she can.
B: The Tyrant
Fred: Beating Jinjur is only part of your problem. By the standards of most Crocutans, Jinjur would make a far better Duchess than you would. She is physically fit and skilled in combat. She commands one of the most feared regiments in the Brigade. Crocutans don't want an enlightened progressive who believes in equality. They want a tyrant who can beat stuff and hurt people.
