Kathy: Wait—! Fred's mom is one of your worst enemies?! Then why—
Songween: She's got me by the proverbials. I owe her so much money, she could foreclose on me and take over Rackenroon the easy way— but the other Duchesses wont' allow it because she's not Royal. So she's concocted this scheme to marry her son to my Heir so that her granddaughter will have the necessary Royal blood and be fit to rule as a Duchess. That's the "Plan." She thinks she's being sneaky. I let her believe that. It makes her happy.
B: One With A Kind Heart
Songween: We're all lucky that Fred turned out to have a head on his shoulders, and that he didn't try to get out of the Contract.
Kathy: Especially once he found out who the candidates were!
Songween: Oh, it wasn't always between Vyschuss and Jinjur. They're just the last two left. There were other possible Heirs over the years, but they disqualified themsevles one way or another— some by getting married, some by dying... of old age, or in battle... or... there was one who died when her photography darkroom blew up, with her in it. Very suspicious set of circumstances. I mean, what sheyena would take up photography as a hobby?
